UWGK Announces Pacesetter Companies

KINGSPORT, TENNESSEE – The United Way of Greater Kingsport (UWGK) reported on its 2020 Campaign today, announcing that $379,094.43 has been raised thus far in the Greater Kingsport Community. The total goal for the campaign is $3 Million.

The announcement came during the Kingsport Chamber’s Virtual Friday event on September 18, 2020. Chad Austin, Vice Chair of the United Way of Greater Kingsport’s campaign, officially announced the current amount raised to date of $379,094.43 and recognized the following companies as Pacesetters for United Way of Greater Kingsport:

  • Eastman Credit Union
  • Edwards Tipton Witt Agency
  • First Horizon Bank
  • Girls Inc.
  • Kingsport Chamber of Commerce
  • Mountain Region Speech and Hearing
  • Sullivan County Imagination Library
  • United Way of Greater Kingsport

 

UWGK’s Vice President of the Board of Directors, Michelle Bacon, shared some key updates from United Way so far this year. “United Way has remained dedicated to supporting local programs through our member agencies, supporting 38 programs housed n 29 agencies. At the same time, a number of other initiatives have been key, including the formation of the Kingsport Homeless Coalition, and the COVID-19 Relief Fund,” stated Bacon. Over the last six months the Kingsport Homeless Coalition has provided direct assistance to more than 70 individuals who are aimed towards transitioning out of a homeless situation in the Kingsport community, while the COVID-19 Relief Fund has distributed more than $150,000 to local agencies to provide food, childcare, PPE, cleaning supplies, and telehealth capabilities.

The dollars raised by the UWGK stay in the Greater Kingsport community to improve the lives of local families, friends, and neighbors. The many community champions who give, advocate and volunteer with United Way improve the lives of over 1,400 people every day. These champions work daily to drive and inspire community change in the areas of education, income, and health.
