UWGK’s Vice President of the Board of Directors, Michelle Bacon, shared some key updates from United Way so far this year. “United Way has remained dedicated to supporting local programs through our member agencies, supporting 38 programs housed n 29 agencies. At the same time, a number of other initiatives have been key, including the formation of the Kingsport Homeless Coalition, and the COVID-19 Relief Fund,” stated Bacon. Over the last six months the Kingsport Homeless Coalition has provided direct assistance to more than 70 individuals who are aimed towards transitioning out of a homeless situation in the Kingsport community, while the COVID-19 Relief Fund has distributed more than $150,000 to local agencies to provide food, childcare, PPE, cleaning supplies, and telehealth capabilities.
The dollars raised by the UWGK stay in the Greater Kingsport community to improve the lives of local families, friends, and neighbors.
