The 25th Annual Week of Caring kicked off on Monday, June 19th and ran through Friday, June 23rd. Over 1800 volunteers from 48 businesses and organizations completed 201 projects across Northeast Tennessee. The financial impact of this year’s Regional Week of Caring was an astounding $260,712 for a cumulative 10,800 hours of volunteer work.

KINGSPORT, TENNESSEE – United Way of Greater Kingsport (UWGK) hosted its 2016 Annual Meeting on February 8, 2017 with approximately 100 people in attendance, including those who GIVE, ADVOCATE, and VOLUNTEER on behalf of the organization, representatives from UWGK Member Agencies, and public officials from the City of Kingsport and Sullivan County. Andy Wampler, 2017 UWGK Board of Directors Vice Chair, gave the invocation, and Dobyns-Bennett High School student Kendall Miller led the Pledge of Allegiance.

KINGSPORT - Paralympic sprinter Patrick “Blake” Leeper is a firm believer that everything we go through in life is for a reason, and for every situation in life, we can step back and find a blessing.
“Life doesn't happen to us. It happens for us and in every situation we can step back and find the blessing in the bad,” Leeper told a group of United Way officials, volunteers and supporters on Thursday. “Life is not fair, it doesn't matter how good your intentions might be. Sometimes you might just come up short. That's life.”

Over 1,000 volunteers completed 126 projects throughout the region for 28 member agencies, two schools, and two area nonprofits. The financial impact of this year’s Week of Caring was an astounding $146,306.60 for a cumulative 6,210 hours of work.
