Susie Pedersen is an Initiatives Manager and serves as the staff liaison for the Health, Safety and Stability and the Aging with Choices Vision Councils as well as support for AveNew, United Way’s Drug Education and Prevention Initiative. A Kingsport native, Susie graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with BA in Communications and then moved to New York to work with World Relief, a Refugee Resettlement Agency. It was there that her passion for serving others was ignited.
Upon returning to Kingsport in 2011 when her husband retired as a New York City Police Officer, Susie became engaged in serving this community, working in the Missions Office at First Broad Street UMC. This experience allowed her to not only see the needs of those that are struggling but to also see the resources and care Kingsport has to offer. Believing that everyone has something to offer and that working together brings about the greatest change, she is excited to continue making those connections and finding innovative solutions in this new role. Susie is the mother of three children, twin daughters and a son, and is happy to call Kingsport home again. Susie enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, tubing down the river and taking in the scenery of this beautiful region.
