Our Community Impact Story

The United Way of Greater Kingsport began a meaningful journey in 2010.  This journey focused on creating lasting change in community conditions by maintaining our system of excellence through our 29 member agencies administering 44 critical programs while identifying and tackling the root causes of our community’s most pressing social problems.  Over the past four years, this approach has enabled us to improve the lives of individuals seeking assistance from our member agencies and affect positive change in the lives of entire community populations.

Our Vision Councils—whose membership includes member agency representatives, volunteers from other non-profit organizations, and concerned community members—have worked tirelessly to drive the development and implementation of Community Impact Strategies focused on education, income, and health.  These include United WE READ, Life BRIDGE,, and affordable adult dental care for the uninsured and underinsured.  All of these strategies are aimed at tackling root cause issues through systemic and sustainable change.

We know that what we do today lays the foundation for a better tomorrow.  Our call to action, Live United, means we are all part of the change.  We are indeed a community of connected individuals—one, united group of people working together for the benefit of all.

The United Way of Greater Kingsport extends an invitation for you to join us.  You can give, you can advocate, and you can volunteer.  Together, we can create a better life for all where everyone in our community has an opportunity for a quality education, financial stability, and good health.
