Kingsport, TN (WJHL) – The residents of Kingsport and Sullivan County will soon be able to get vision and dental health care that they may not have otherwise been able to afford.
The greater Kingsport United Way, along with volunteers and sponsors are hosting a variety of mobile dental and vision clinics.
These clinics for a run through the month of October and will be hosted at a variety of different places.
Some of the clinics will only be open to Shades of Grace Church and patients at Providence Clinic, while others will be open to the public.
The clinics that are open to the public will be by appointment only and space is limited.
Appalachian Miles for Smiles is one of three community impact initiatives through United Way of Greater Kingsport, focusing on the HEALTH of our community.
“Dental needs are a huge need in our community. They are often something that is very difficult to pay for. Many people don’t have dental insurance and so this is just a free service that is available to those people”, Mandi Cambre of the Greater Kingsport United Way.
The Appalachian Miles for Smiles Mobile Dental Unit is a five treatment bay, state-of-the-art dental clinic equipped to be operational at any remote location 30 minutes after arrival.
The dates of the clinics below and the phone number to call and set an appointment is 423-378-2AMS.
Organizer say they hoped that this pilot program becomes regional and is able to help more people.
