Community Investments
Community volunteers decide how your dollars are invested.
A volunteer-based Citizens' Review Grant Process guarantees donated funds are used wisely to serve people who need it most.
Approximately 60 to 100 volunteers:
-
Review agency budgets and program information
-
Make an onsite visit to each agency; receive a financial presentation
-
Learn more about community needs relevent to the programs they review and apply this knowledge
-
Make an objective recommendation for program funding to the Community Investment Committee, the Community Impact Cabinet and the United Way Board of Directors
Citizens' Review volunteers make funding decisions that impact 41 local health and human service programs in 28 member agencies.
The funds, pre-allocated through the Citizens' Review Grant Process, are raised during the community campaign and disbursed the following January.
The Citzens' Review volunteers make tough choices. Even after the most successful campaign, finite resources must be stretched to try to meet all the requests.
